Among Palaces and Gardens, the Ancient Este's "Jewels"

Palaces and gardens, artworks, rare plants, exotic animals adorned the city and through the sequence of countryside's "jewels" replicated the image of the Court throughout the territory.
Today the imprint of that ancient design that the Unesco recognition wanted to emphasize is still visible: the Duke of Este's residences, in fact, are an exceptional example of Renaissance culture and its influence over the natural landscape.
Palazzo Schifanoia is located in Ferrara, the first "jewel" erected by the Este's ducal family in 1385 and expanded over the centuries. It was a leisure place equipped to accommodate an itinerant court and to fulfill political and representational tasks.
The great Mesi's Hall is an Italian Renaissance painting masterpiece of astrological background where the frescos celebrate the good government of Ferrara's Duke through the call to the Gods of Olympus and deans summoning.
