Food and Wine at Castrocaro Terme and Terra del Sole
Tucked away among the rolling Romagna hills, Castrocaro Terme and Terra del Sole still retain today, a tight link with agricultural activities and rural traditions.
This has allowed the valorisation of a rich array of food and wine specialties typical of the region, together with recipes that can be traced to the best culinary Romagna cuisine, like the piadina, a typical Romagnole flatbread, Sangiovese wine, cold cuts, game and jam preserves.

These dishes of long ago relive in the numerous small restaurants and taverns of the territory where they hold a place of honour and are a source of pride for many restaurateurs.
Because of the composition and type of soil and acclimatized grape variety, this strip of land on the hill where the towns are located, boasts of a glorious wine growing tradition. We are talking about great wines with strong character like the red wine, Sangiovese and the white wine, Trebbiano well known throughout Italy. There is also the Albana, Pagadebit and Cagnina, typical of the di Forlì-Cesena province.
Olive growing is diffused in the territory, and in Castrocaro itself, a unique olive variety genotype was discovered following a series of scientific studies on the oldest olive tree found in the courtyard of the Fort, that can be traced to the XVII century.
