San Donato a Polenta Parish Church
The San Donato a Polenta Parish Church, classified as a national monument, became famous thanks to Giosuè Carducci who in the ode "La Chiesa di Polenta" ("Polenta's Church") recalls the hospitality that Guido Da Polenta reserved to Dante Alighieri ("forse qui Dante inginocchiossi"). In fact, this place gave its name to the ancient and combative Da Polenta family, who welcomed the Supreme Poet during his exile.

The simplicity of the basilica structure and the valuable crypt, recovered through restoration in 1960, are striking, but, most of all, what truly strikes is the place's special atmosphere, which during spring evenings takes on romantic and restful hues.
Climbing up Via Crucis opens a magnificent view of the surrounding plain.
Nearby and likely connected to the Parish's history are the ancient castle ruins, where according to tradition Francesca was born, whose tragic love for Paolo is narrated by Dante in the Inferno, V Canto.
