Freedom Square and the Cathedral

The true heart of this corner of Romagna: from the terrace, created at the beginning of the last century by demolishing a few buildings that blocked the view, it is possible to enjoy a wonderful view and on a clear day, it is even possible to admire, in the distance, beyond the plain, the Adriatic Sea from Rimini to Ravenna.
The Cathedral and the Ordelaffi's Palace, now hosting the town hall, stand in the square.

Piazza della Libertà e Cattedrale di Bertinoro

The Cathedral was completed in the seventeenth century and features a three-nave design; in the XVI century, a series of bishops embellished its furnishing.
It hosts valuable paintings, such as those by Francesco Longhi, Blessed Virgin with Baby Jesus and the Holy Apostles Pietro and Paolo, dating back to the seventeenth century while the XVIII century altar piece of Bologna school depicts the Mystical Saint Catherine Di Allessandria's Wedding, patron saint of the city. The cathedral holds also a large wood Crucifix of German-Italian school dating back to the XVI century.
