The Forest of Lama

The Forest of Lama, where nature is unspoiled

The Lama Forest is located in the hearth of the Foreste Casentinesi, Mount Falterona and Campigna National Park: a meadow (699 m above sea level) towards which the imposing Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennine falls from the Mount Penna (1333m asl), drawing a landscape of steep woods, gorge and cliffs that contrast with the amenity of this small plain crossed by quiet streams. At the edges of this small plain, located in the middle of a marvelous forest, there is a forest station surrounded by exotic flowers of exceptional dimensions and an unusual 300 year-old whitethorn.

Foresta della Lama

Besides being the closest place to the Riserva Naturale Integrale of Sasso Fratino, the first nature reserve in Italy founded in 1959, the Forest of Lama is one of the hikers' and bikers' favorite destinations and can be reached after a wonderful 5-hour excursion or through a 20 km-long forest track.
Moreover, during the summer, a bus service allows visitors to admire the natural beauties of the plain.
